The Last Days of Melbrum
Patrolling Lion Cavalier Captain
A harsh man, ferocious and antisocial. Seemingly grudging the freedom most men have, whereas his duties bind him for life. He seeks glory, outwardly. And scorns those who achieve it before him. A follower of St. Cuthbert, but not very devoute. He rides along the King’s highway from Sailvil to Thris twice a month. Halting his force of two dozen knights only when there’s trouble afoot, and even then it is quickly quelled. Vastoff is well prepared and provisioned to deal with all manner of common enemy, however it is the occult he truly fears. Having little knowledge of their mindsets, practices, or agendas.
On the morning after the third new moon of 4998 A.O.T., Vastoff arrived in Thris at the head of a column of 20 mounted knights. Arriving first in the Prowl family camp to discuss the threat of goblinoid invasion with the PCs. Asking after knowledge and deeds, Vastoff was capable of organizing 100 of HIS personal pikemen between the gates of the town, collaborating with the local baron to arm the militia with bows and firearms along the northen walls, and riding out against the goblin’s seige engines in a mounted sortie during the dusk hours when their approach could not be seen easily. Thanks to Vastoff and the PCs efforts, Thris still stands and it’s cold iron mines remain functional.
“PRAISE BE THE EMPEROR, 11TH OF HIS LINE, RULER OF ALL THE LANDS FROM THE GREAT GREEN SEA
TO THE DWARVEN CONFEDERACIES, FROM ALL THE LANDS OF THE HURRICANE VALLEY TO THE FROSTWIND MOUNTAINS OF THE NORTH….YOU HEAR THAT OGRESSSSSS!!!!! ALL THE WAY TO THE FROSTWIND MOUNTAINS!!!!!”
Vastoff stands at a mere 5’9" yet has the attitude of a giant. Always quick to anger and not easily deceived. He has a bright brown pointy beard over a foot long and short military cropped hair with a single long braid running down the left side of his face. Though brutal, he means well, always finding time for the commonwealth. As far as spellcasters go, he could do without them. But he has a deep respect and appreciation for druids and rangers.
